Miss Susan sweeping her Gammy's floor.

Featuring Doris Hamilton's Bahama Global Batik Fabrics...

Miss Susie, Shalome and Jonathon enjoying their watermelon at Gammy's house after school.

This is a foam...something, what do I call it Doris?  She makes the design on foam then dips it in wax and puts it on her material before she dyes it.  Pretty cool, eh!

This material we watched her wax and dye it.

Doris also does pottery and make beautiful vases, etc.  This is her kiln at her house.

Brailling in the Bahamas

Shavargo and Carolyn at the buffet at Ruby Swiss Restaurant.  Carolyn is the owner and has donated her spare bedroom for Braille supplies for everyone to borrow.

Supplies donated from the CNIB from some Braille Angels in Canada.  Thanks so very much.

These are 4 track, variable speed tapes and are used in specialized tape recorders that have been donated by Braille Angels.  Thanks again.

This is my group of Braille Students in Freeport, Grand Bahamas.  Missing is Pastor Lornal and his wife Peggy.  We need a Brailler for Vanny the lady in front of me and a Brailler for Pastor Lornal.  The Brailler Shavargo is using was donated by Appleby College and Leona has two that belong to the Grand Bahamas Association for the Blind, that her and Latika use.  Carolyn has one that I purchased when I left teaching to take on the road or sea with me.

We're coming in Bell Channel in Port Lucaya, just out for a days explore and sail.

Reading...Braille...Doris' Grandchildren...

This was an interesting book mainly because if I can fit it in I would really like to do my radio show, "The Cheesemaker's Daughter on CJAI, Amherst Island Radio, 92.3, FM and you can find it on your computer too on their website.  I was doing interviews with seniors on the Island and playing music and having Dan and Anthony perform.  I ran out of time so now I have to or want to figure out a time to do it again.

This is the Brailler that Val and her friend, Al, donated to me.  MicroScience Computers repaired it and Val and her friend paid for the repair and right ow it is being used by a Grade one student, Edmond, at Beacon School in the Bahamas.  Thanks so much to you Val and Al.

I got some Braille books sent down to the Bahamas by Peel School Board, I think around 16 boxes.  Thanks so much to Debbie and Mary Jean who facilitated this gift and thanks to Carolyn Wipf for using her spare bedroom as a library for the supplies and books that are coming in from Canada.

Doris Hamilton's grandkids, twins, Shalome and Jonathan.  What a cute and crazy bunch.

Tom's jeep with balls, Brailling in the Bahamas

Tom and Antony loading up the jeep.  We leant him our two huge fenders and no he has balls on his jeep.

Carolyn Wipf was very kind to invite all of my Braille students for a buffet lunch at her restaurant, Ruby Swiss in Freeport.  This is Leona and her sister Sharon.  Gretal, Carolyn's daughter-in-law is taking our drink orders.

This is wonderful young man, Shavargo.

Leona and her daughter, Lakita.

BASRA Easter Egg Hunt

Amily is the daughter of the owners of Ocean Reef, where we dock our boat.

Carol and Anthony enjoying lunch on the beach.

This is the area for egg hunting for 4 to 10 year olds. Here we buried the eggs under the sand.  It's ribboned off and the kids are getting ready to dig.

They were giving away these crazy hats as prizes.  Madame Carol is posing for me in one.

Tom and me.  I'm selling food tickets and Tom is selling BASRA clothing.  It's on of their biggest fund raisers.

The 11 to adult hunt is in the water.  They filled the plastic eggs with sand and then buried them in the sand under the water so here is the beginning of that hunt.  The eggs were all numbered and they would bring them back to us and there was a prize connected to each number.  For the older one there were ipods, etc.  What a fun day.
