210 Joan and Dan's Farm back on Amherst Island, Stella's Cafe'

One of Joan's barn cats, Black Jack.

A new born calf. Amazing.

Dan did some work on the front of the barn to repair it or restore it. He is a very hard worker.

Another barn cat.  No name.

Joan's chickens.  There is a sad story here.  Joan and Dan went to the Havelock Music Festival and left Anthony in charge of the cows and me in charge with the chickens.  She had 8. Well it sure was fun on the first morning going out to the barn, hearing the chuckling of the hens as they anticipated being fed.  I collected eggs and all went very well. The next morning I'm walking towards the pen...and...the door is open.  OMG did I forget to close the door. There isn't any chuckling, silence and a few weird noises but no happiness.  I shouted to Anthony, "Annnnnthony, something is wrong with the chickens." Three were dead, one badly injured and 4 very scared chickens. All day I scolded myself for being so forgetful to leave the door open. There weren't any eggs that day. The next day I didn't want to do the chickens so Anthony went out and again 3 chickens were killed and this time the door was tied shut.  Before Joan and Dan arrived back home we had lost all of the chickens to a racoon family living in the barn.  Weren't they beautiful laying hens?

The Cafe' before opening.  We're at our summer home again.

Having a staff meeting on the front porch. The two of are the staff so when we have coffee on the front porch we tell the people passing by that we're having a staff meeting. : )

Kid's Art Show at the Amherst Island Public School.  We're up to 29 students, grades K to 8.  Such a special little school.  I went there as a kid but there were 50 kids in grades K to 8.  There were 11 kids in my grade and 6 in the grade behind me and I can't remember the rest of the numbers.
