Tennis anyone? This is Hank in the back and Tom up front here. Hank, Tom, Gabe and me...we try to play tennis every morning from 7:45 to 9:30 or so. Yesterday was sooooo hot that we jumped in the pool with our tennis clothes on and drank our beers in the pool. We play two sets and do lots of sweating. Hank, Tom and Gabe are really good...I'm still learning.
Hank and Gabe.....Fabulous Tennis Players.....so is Tom.
Me and my Tennis partner, Gabe.....
It's Tuesday at Ocean Reef and we're singing and grooving with Charles and singing at the Karaoke. This is Hank singing.
This is Anthony singing.
And Diane singing.....
and Hank singing, Desperado....Board Walk....
And sometimes we all get up and sing and dance to give the new people confidence to get up and sing and act silly too. This couple with us is from Germany, Gabby and Axel.
And our Fabulous Host and Singer....Charles.
We're at the Rand...where Marion volunteered when she was here. It's close enough to bicycle too but it's awfully hot right now to bike during the day.
I have seen these cactus' in little wee pots in IKEA....look at the size of this one!!!!!
The Pond in the Rand Park. They are doing construction at the Rand, developing it more and still repairing damages from the Hurricane in 2004.
Beautiful Palms.
This is looking straight up the trunk of this Caribbean Pine Tree.
I can't remember....I know it's in the Hawk family...maybe an Osprey.
A Peacock.
What a different colour? I would expect green.
Still the Rand.
Poinciana Tree in the background there.
Indian Ring-necked Parrot at Ann's place. She has two of them. They flew into her Avirary after the Tornado in 2004. They must have escaped and didn't know how to get home and saw her Love Birds and Cockatiels. They are very beautiful.
Ann breeds Love Birds and Cockatiels. Here are only a few of her Love Birds.
Isn't he gorgeous?
The Cockatiels are in pairs and in the front of the Avirary. They are laying itty bitty eggs right now and so are the Love Birds.
Ann and Me.
Captain Anthony enjoying the Bahamas.
We went to Santy's for his Birthday and this is the view from his apartment on Coral Road right on Coral Beach.
Sunset off of Santy's back porch on the sixth floor.
Anthony, Hank, Diane and Santy at his bday party. He is an awesome cook.
Patterns...Santy's apartment or condo building.
Hank, Diane, Santy and Anthony.....Happy Birthday Santy.
Ann and Chippie took us to Bishops in MacLeanville at the very far east end of the Island.
We had a Fish Dinner, Conch Fritters and Sands (beer). It was beautiful, right on the beach. It was a wonderful drive out there. It took about an hour...only one road goes out to the end. Chippie has known the owner of Bishops a long time. It was fun to sit and listen to them visit and talk about the past.
No one was on the beach except us. Me and Ann. We went for a walk on the beach with Anthony.
Oh, man...what a beach....what great clouds....it's a beautiful place here.
A bar in MacLeanville that we stopped at for a beer.
Somebody's house.
Mosaic tile floor in the bar.
This is where you catch the ferry to Andros, another island about a 45 minute boat ride away from here.
And this is the ferry and these boys work on it.
Chippie, Ann and Anthony. Chippie is Bahamian and his wife Ann was originally from England but lived in the Beaches in Toronto for a while too.
Out sailing on the Swan....this is Doris Hamilton, the Art teacher from Beacon School, and Gabe, my Tennis partner. He is captain of a cruise ship that is in the Freeport Harbour. He is from the Panama.
Ning Ning...she lives 2 boats down from me and has the 5 cute little dogs. He husband Robert is an Oceanographer and trains Dolphins at Unexco and looks after the staff and grounds and water area for the Dolphins.
Tom...the Rescue guy, the BASRA guy....lives on his boat right near Ester's. He is at the bow of the boat watching for shallow water. When the tide goes down and the ocean comes through the canal it sets up new sand bars so Tom directs Anthony through the shallow water to make sure we don't get stuck on the bottom.
It's Whit Day in the Bahamas and the kids are out of school so this family came to the beach.
More families enjoying the ocean and the sand beaches.
Doris and Me. Doris picks us up every Monday and takes us to Beacon School and brings us back with our guitars after school. She is a great friend. We have met her family...not all of them...but we will. We have been to her home and she is a great cook and a wonderful person. Thanks Doris for coming into our life and for all the rides and the Fashion Show and the great food and for giving us time with your Grandchildren.
Can you see the Spotted Eagle Ray....there are two of them that swim by our boat most evenings just before the sun sets. I wish I was in snorkeling sometime when they came by. The other day Hank said he saw a six foot Nurse Shark beside Les' boat at the dock and I was snorkeling only 15 minutes before. I wish I had seen it. They are very safe. Very interested in fish...not humans.
Us.
Doing the Electric Slide on a Monday Night Bahamian Party Night.
